Hello. I am Ian Lowe, G0PDZ. First licenced in 1990.
I am located in the South East of England in the town of Margate on the North Kent coast on the Isle of Thanet. I am fortunate to be located on one of the local high spots, but not that high, only 30m asl. However, I have a reasonably clear take off in all directions with the sea less than a mile away to the North & a couple of miles maximum to the East.
Sometime member, of the North Kent Radio Society, Clifton Amateur Radio Society and now a member of and Secretary for the Hilderstone RS, G0HRS / G7HTI.
Interests include QRP, member of GQRP, 7256 & QRPARCI, 8516.
Occasional WAB square chaser, Book 20650.
I also enjoy going out portable with my FT817 and playing radio on the many beaches of Thanet that surround me. So I am a member of ARPOC, member no 85.
After an absence from the hobby from the late 1990’s through to a return in 2011, with occasional activity in the ‘quiet’ years, I am now again establishing radio at home.
I also engage in contesting both with G0HRS & as a member of the the Invicata Contest Group, M5IC. ICG is a loose affiliation of amateurs from Kent clubs who wish to contest, in a fun & friendly way.
I’m hoping to regain my lapsed skill with the morse key, CW used to be my mode of choice in my early years. FISTS 16943.
As the Events officer for Hilderstone Radio Society I have organised many SES on behalf of the club throughout the Year. We regularly support, SOS Week, Thinking Day on the AIR, Mills on the Air, International Museums Weekend, International Lighthouses on the Air, International Air Ambulance week, World Space Week, Jamboree on the Air & Youth on the Air. All this as well as add hoc SES for other local events.
I am now the club secretary.
